| ℹ️ Please note: some shorter language courses like Igbo, isiXhosa, Mongolian, Slovenian, Somali, Tagalog, Tamil and Yoruba do not offer the option to choose a proficiency level. |
To change your proficiency level in a language, please follow these steps:
- Click on the flag icon on the top left corner of the screen.
- In the new screen that opens, click on the "..." button next to the language you want to change the level of.
- In the new menu that shows, click on "Reset progress".
- You will be prompted to confirm your decision, and then invited to choose an alternative level to start at.
You will get prompted with the following options:
- Learn from scratch (no prior knowledge of that language)
- 1. Getting started (you have done some learning, but can’t speak much)
- 2. Making good progress (you can have a basic conversation on limited topics)
- 3. Improving my skills (you have a good understanding but looking to get better)
If even the higher level is too easy, you may wish to try the following to tailor your experience:
-
You can mark individual items and full scenarios as known, which moves them straight to 'Completed' and ensures they don't come up in your review queue.
-
Using the search bar 🔍 in the Scenarios and Videos tabs, you can filter by Intermediate, and chose some more advanced videos.
-
On the app, if you head to the Scenarios tab, the scenarios lower down in the 'Explore' list tend to be more difficult.
-
On the videos tab, you will find red-labelled videos. These are videos which contain words you don't already know. Click Learn words to add scenarios containing these words to your path 🙂
-
In our AI Buddies tab, you can practice your Grammar, conjugation and other skills. This may be interesting for advanced users. (Please note that some AI Buddies are only available to Pro users).
